Mara denies calling 'SVU' 'awful' and 'stupid'

Rooney Mara has been getting all kinds of flack for apparently bashing "Law & Order: SVU."

But did she actually diss the show like so many are reporting?

No! "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" star never slammed the NBC procedural.

The New York Post's Page Six claimed earlier this week that the 26-year-old actress dissed the time she worked on "SVU" in a new interview in Allure magazine. "It was so awful. So stupid," Mara said, according to the gossip column.

Well, turns out she never said anything of the sort.

"That was my first job," Mara says in a new interview with The Huffington Post. "It couldn't have been more exciting for me. It's an experience I hold very dear to my heart."

Mara was also taken to task for apparently trashing her episode as "ridiculous" because she played a young woman who beats up fat people with her boyfriend.

Rooney Mara on 'SVU' role: It was stupid

"If anything, I didn't mean that the storyline was ridiculous; I meant that humanity is ridiculous," Mara explained. "I know that 'Law & Order' makes their episodes out of real things that are happening in the city, so to me, by 'ridiculous' I meant that humanity is ridiculous. People are awful to one another; and to me, I find it ridiculous."
